The Department of Information has a come a long way in little time. What started off as a Unit in the Premier’s Ministry, became a fully fledged Department in 2001.
Today major changes have been made to the Department and its programming. Among Nevisians, the Department is commonly referred to as NNC (Nevis News Channel) or NTV (Nevis Television Channel 8).
It became the first local broadcasting network in partnership with Caribbean Cable Nevis and on many occasions has produced live streaming of events such as the Nevis Island Assembly in session, the annual Inter Primary Sports Meet dubbed the Mini Olympics.
Almost 10 years later, the Department is on the verge of breaking new ground with to stream its daily programming via the internet. Streaming will commenced on November 01, 2010.
NTV8’s programming can also be accessed on Facebook, a popular social network among the youths of Nevis.
